How to plan the best Micro Wedding

Planning a micro wedding has plenty of benefits for couples and guests, and here are some tips for you to plan the best micro wedding and enjoy the process.

SMALL IS BETTER

Traditional weddings have increased their numbers both in budget and guests for the past years. Couples often see themselves obligated to throw a larger party to please their families and avoid tension. But making that decision comes at a cost; your wedding day will almost feel like your family party.

This year gave us the perfect excuse to cut the numbers and plan an intimate wedding. The best part about it is that you get to spend your big day surrounded only by your loved ones. Organizing a micro wedding is the best way to take control of your wedding plans.

YOU GET TO SPEND TIME WITH EVERYONE THERE

Have you ever attended a wedding and only had a picture with the newlyweds because they were too busy making the rounds and greeting everyone? It is unfortunate for couples to invest months of planning and not have fun with their friends and family. A micro wedding assures you will have quality time with every attendant.

Many couples had a budget settled for a big wedding, and they are now downsizing the event what lets them plenty of margins to spend in the areas they want. A micro wedding allows you to splurge and treat your guests to a luxurious venue, top-of-the-notch dinner, and cocktails, or the best photographer in town.

YOU CAN NOW GET MARRIED ANYWHERE

When you have a large guest count, your venue options become limited since you need to accommodate everyone for dinner, a dance floor, and even parking space. On the other hand, a micro wedding gives you full liberty to pick your favorite location, restaurant, and even think out of town. Logistics becomes much easier when you only deal with a handful of guests.

BETTER WEDDING PHOTOS

As a photographer, I watch how couples stress as their wedding day passes, and you can see the stress reflected in the pictures. A big pro of micro weddings is that you get to enjoy your day. It is not about pleasing everyone or worrying about the catering service not being on time to feed 200 guests.

You can focus on your ceremony and then have enough time to take the pictures you dreamed of, instead of running around from here to there and fitting your photoshoot into the heavy schedule of the day.

Many couples who did not even consider hiring a professional wedding photographer now redirected their budget into hiring the photographer of their dreams, making me happy.

SO HOW DO YOU PLAN THE BEST MICRO WEDDING?

I recommend:

-         Pick your dream location. The sky is the limit, you are not having a traditional wedding, and you get to choose the venue you prefer. Think outside the box, a park, a forest, a five-star resort, you name it. Business is being very accommodating to small events. Ask at your favorite restaurant or hotel about their packages you might be pleasantly surprised.

-         Spend some of the money you are saving on bringing in great vendors. Perhaps you could not afford the catering service you wanted when planning a large wedding, but when the number of guests is smaller, you can now hire the vendors you admire. Remember that the success of a wedding mostly depends on how professional your vendors are.

-         Set up an on-location dinner or move to a restaurant. If you want to have a ceremony surrounded by nature in a forest or a botanical garden, find out if you can celebrate your reception on site. Since you are hosting a small event, chances are you get to stay there for the evening and have a magical dinner. If not possible, you can go to your favorite restaurant. Many of them even allow you to decorate and set up a private space to host your event.

To get the best photographs:

Schedule your ceremony when it is good for photos. If you plan a beach wedding, sunset is the best moment to capture the beautiful natural light. 2 hours before sunset is the ideal moment to get the most beautiful photos.

Hire a photographer (me!) for 4-10 hours. That amount of time allows me to cover a little of your getting ready moment, the ceremony, couple photos, family photos, and also if you want me to cover your reception.

I will provide a relaxing experience while taking your photos since my style is mainly candid, which means you do not need to pose or act a certain way. You can enjoy the day and trust me to portrait the most meaningful moments of your wedding.

Safety is a priority for me, and I will respect current authority guidelines and rules and any of the protocols you choose to put into practice. My goal is to make you feel comfortable and capture your love in the most spontaneous way.
