When searching for the perfect destination to elope to in Florida, I often suggest to my couples that they check out Orlando first. Because very often they are so surprised at how cool and wonderfully green it is! Most of the visitors to Orlando rarely step outside the many theme parks, and so never get a chance to see just how modern and trendy the city has become. With a thriving restaurant and brewery scene, alongside 100 lakes to explore, Orlando offers so much to the eloping couple hoping to blend their wedding and honeymoon into one. But where to wed? Do you elope in Downtown Orlando? Marry in Maitland? Or host your wedding in Winter Park? Well, as an experienced elopement photographer in Orlando, I thought I’d share my guide on the places to elope to in this city, as well as how best to plan your wedding. In the hope that I inspire and inform your future plans.

A Guide to Eloping in Orlando

I’m very proud to be an elopement photographer in Orlando because it is a city that offers a little bit of everything to eloping couples. Around every corner, you’ll find fun, and exciting spots to stage your elopement photography, as well as so many romantic places to say “I do’. From cool and contemporary, to luxurious and extravagant – there are perfect places to elope in Orlando for every couple.

The Best Places to Elope in Orlando

With so many amazing places to elope to in Orlando, I thought I’d break it down into two categories; Nature and City. So you can easily discover the best of what this city has to offer.

Nature

If you dream of tying the knot with the sound of crashing waves all around you, then you’re in luck. Orlando is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches. And they all offer a different type of experience, depending on the time of year. For example, if you visit the lush sand that is Treasure Island Beach, during spring break. You might find you’re surrounded by beer kegs and subwoofers, and not the calm romance you’ve been dreaming of. But a visit to Treasure Island Beach outside of this time offers wonderful turquoise waves, an endless boardwalk for strolling, and beautiful sunset. The perfect destination wedding location!

As an elopement photographer in Orlando however, I would have to say Treasure Island Beach is the best for eloping couples. This beach is pure tranquility when visited at the right time. Arrange your ceremony and elopement photographer for around sunset, and not only will the hot Orlando climate start to cool, but you’ll also have the sand to yourself. If salty kisses aren’t your thing, then Orlando also has many beautiful parks to offer its eloping couples. Like Harry P. Leu Gardens a gorgeous garden full of tropical greenery, nature trails, lakes, and ancient oak trees.

City

The Mayan Courtyard in Maitland, Orlando, would be my top tip for couples wanting to elope in the city. As it still offers a feeling of escapism, despite being in the center of Orlando. It is a complex collection of charming, architecturally unique sculptures and buildings displaying art and history from the local area. The most popular ceremony location choices here are a small and pretty pond, or an inner courtyard decorated with ornate floor tiles and surrounded by Mayan sculptures. To elope in Orlando does not mean you need to lose all sense of tradition, or faith. If you would still like to tie the knot in a chapel, there are many elegant choices in the city. Like the Winter Park Wedding Chapel for instance. A hidden gem of a chapel that offers an intimate experience for its couples, surrounded by wooden floors and stained glass windows

When Is the Best Time to Elope to Orlando

Due to the all-year-round good weather in Orlando, and Florida in general. You can expect a warm climate in any month you visit. During December and January, you will find the temperature is cooler. But the benefit of this is that you’ll have many venues, beaches, and gardens to yourself! As I mentioned earlier, Spring Break is best to avoid. But also July and August is the peak season for tourists. So try and plan around both of these periods to give yourself more privacy.

What Are the Legalities of Eloping to Orlando

In order to elope officially in Orlando, you will need to obtain a Florida marriage license. The cost of this is $92.50, and you will need to provide identification upon request. You will need your driver’s license, state ID, passport and if you’re a US citizen you’ll also need your social security number. Alongside this, if you have been married before, you’ll need to show proof of termination. Once you’ve got all of your docs, turn up at the County Clerk’s office, and they’ll verify everything for you. If everything is in order, the office will issue you with your license, which is valid for 60 days.

In Orlando, eloping couples visiting from out of state can marry on the same day as they receive their license. The same goes for the whole of Florida. However, residents of the state will need to wait 3 days before they can tie the knot.
